Ethiopia - Dollo Ado project

In Somali province in Ethiopia, we have been appointed as the management company to an innovative co-operative venture involving host communities and refugees where both work together to create agricultural co-operatives. The venture is sponsored by two multilateral agencies, a European national donor and, in the earlier stages, by a European private-sector foundation. The fundamental aim of the venture, which will run for an initial three years, is to enhance food security among the 240,000 local residents and the 160,000 refugee population most of whom are housed in seven UNHCR camps. In addition to the basic aim of food security and enhanced resilience, our ambition is to promote value-chain development and broaden agricultural skills.

CBM Developments - Nigeria

Sahel Agriculture is one of three shareholders in Nigeria-incorporated CBM Developments. CBM Developments designs, installs and maintains irrigation systems in projects across West Africa. This venture is done in partnership with Saudi Exim Bank, the export credit agency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Alkhorayef Industries, a leading supplier of irrigation systems and other agricultural equipment.

In February 2024, CBM Developments signed an agreement with Niger Foods, the state-owned agriculture company of Niger State, to develop 50,000 ha of land for irrigation development.

Nigeria — AATF Project

AATF, a technology-transfer organisation which provides farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) with practical technology solutions to enhance agricultural productivity, has launched a BT hybrid seed maize programme in collaboration with EcoBasic Seed, a seed company located in Kaduna, Nigeria.

Sahel Agriculture has been appointed by these parties to establish and manage the pilot project for this venture. The programme aims to support maize producers in Nigeria by providing genetic protection against stemborer and other pests and by enhancing resilience under moderate drought stress conditions. We hope to extend this co-operation across other SSA geographies in 2025-2026.
